How can we ensure that the child is at the centre of teaching and learning?
Our main educational aim is to enable to children to leave this infant school literate and numerate and with an enthusiasm for learning that will continue to motivate them throughout their next school. Many children come into school with very limited life experiences, low levels of spoken language as well as relatively low expectations for their life ahead. We want to change that and provide them with the basic skills of learning as well as hope for their future. They need to know that, with hard work, they can attain their dreams
During term 3 a practitioner will work with Matt and Dean in Years 1 and 2 during literacy and maths sessions (1/2 day each year per week) to explore creative learning in these subjects. The aim is also to enable these teachers to become ambassadors of creative learning within the school.
On 13 February there will be a CPD day for all teachers and TAs to introduce the creative partnerships programme to the whole school and prepare staff for the project based learning on Imagination and Philosophy for Children which is planned for term 4.
This will be delivered by the practitioner, the 2 lead teachers and the creative agent.
During term 4 the practitioner will work with all years during the project sessions. An allowance has also been made to bring in specialist practitioners should a need be identified for term 4.
Parents will be invited to share skills and resources and will also be kept informed of the progress of the creative learning project through exhibitions and a parents assembly.
The creative agent will facilitate the programme, cascade information to all staff, enthuse the staff, carry out administration and help select and manage the practitioners.
Outcomes and Sustainability
Hopefully the teachers will become ambassadors of creative learning within the school and will teach creatively after the programme.
