How do residents feel about living on the Newington estate?
•To collaborate with Newington based Youth Workers and community groups.
•To engage with Newington residents through creative activity.
•To benchmark residents’ confidence and views regarding their community, and to gather ideas about how it could be improved.
In collaboration with Kent Police and Thanet Community Safety Partnership, Future Creative devised a three day consultation event in which Future Creative Partners encouraged residents to creatively document their thoughts and feelings about living within the Newington Estate. By utilising various media and creating new spaces within the estate, a forum was provided for residents to express themselves. Outcomes and Sustainability
The documentation gathered will provide Kent Police and Thanet Community Safety Partnership with a benchmark of community feeling and could potentially inform a longer phase two project that would aim to engage and support disaffected youth within the community, raising their aspirations and developing skills for life.
