Gold Arts Award on the UCAS Tariff!

25 June 2010

As the Arts Award training agency for Kent and Medway, and the Arts Award Regional Development Agency for the South East, we’re very excited that the Gold Arts Award has been awarded 35 Tariff points by UCAS. This compares to AS Level qualification C Grade (40 points), Higher Sports Leader Award (30 points) and Music Theory Examinations Grade 8 Distinction (30 points).

The Arts Award mission is to support young people who want to deepen their engagement with the arts, build creative and leadership skills while achieving a national qualification. The Arts Award is offered at levels 1, 2 and 3 on the National Qualifications Framework (which translate to Bronze, Silver and Gold) for young people aged 11-25 and can be achieved through exploring any of the art forms including performing arts, visual arts, literature, media and multimedia.

The Award can be delivered from Year 6 upwards in School, in Further Education and Higher Education as well as non formal education and the youth sector.  The Award also works brilliantly alongside the Creative Partnerships (CP) Programme, 14-19 Diploma, as part on the extended schools programme or during a work experience or holiday placement.

'I have been able to find myself as an artist through both sections of the Gold Arts Award. Networking and talking with different practitioners in acting and dance, as well as a theatre producer, was invaluable... Having the drive and dedication to see my production through to the end was proof to myself that I have chosen the right line of work to get into.'  Zephryn, Gold Award achiever
