Towards a Cultural Baton
03 December 2009
Future Creative worked with four local schools in Kent on the artist's proposals, how they should look and what they would represent as a cultural baton for Kent. The creative partners who worked with the schools also looked at Culture as a concept to try and help the children and young people understand what it means to them and their community.
The winning proposal, chosen by a panel and voted by the public, was announced at the 'Towards a Cultural Baton' event after each school showcased their interpretation of culture and the artist proposal they studied. The winning artist: Nicole Mollet was awarded a chocolate gold medal and traditional Olympic style wreath and said she was "delighted" and "looking forward to...inspiring people to rediscover and reflect on what makes their local area unique in the lead up to 2012".
